On January 12th, a 7 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti; devastating the country's capital Port Au Prince and neighboring cities and towns. The priority of Canada, the US, and the UN has been to invade the country with thousands of heavily armed troops instead of providing desperately needed aid and assistance. 20,000 American forces are now occupying and running the country along with 2,000 Canadian troops, and over 9,000 UN soldiers; who have repeatedly delayed, impeded, and even prevented attempts to get medicine, treatment and food to millions of affected people. Over 250,000 have died and 1.5 million left homeless.

What non-Haitian citizens in Canada, the US and throughout the world must do is stand in solidarity with the Haitian people as they deal with the devastation of the earthquake and the added disaster of an invasion of international forces who continue to steal Haiti's sovereignty and loot Haiti of its human and natural resources.

Since 1492 colonial forces have brought genocide, exploitation, violence and impoverishment to Haiti and since 1791, the Haitian people have led a heroic resistance to this agenda. When looking at the devastation in Haiti as Non Africans and Non Haitians, we should not ask "How can I help these poor people?", but know it is our obligation as human beings to stand in solidarity with them and their resistance movements. We must instead ask "How can I best organize against my government's criminal role in their country?" We should never look at the Haitian people with pity or to satisfy our own self righteousness, but must learn from their over 200 year old struggle as an inspiration and guide for our own movements and political organizing.

IF you want to get involved in solidarity with the Haitian people at this time of crisis; IF you are already involved in solidarity organizations with people's movements in the third world (Latin America, Africa, Asia, Middle East); IF you consider yourself an anti-imperialist, and internationalist...WE WANT YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT! There will be critical information and fruitful discussion on building solidarity movements and the role they need to play!

Come out on Sunday February 28th!

HAITI IS NOT POOR! HAITI HAS BEEN LOOTED!
SUPPORT SELF DETERMINATION FOR ALL AFRICAN PEOPLE FROM HARLEM TO HAITI!

AFRICAN PEOPLE'S SOLIDARITY COMMITTEE (APSC):
Formed and is led by the African People’s Socialist Party, which leads the Uhuru Movement working for the liberation of African people inside the U.S. and around the world. Based on the strategy and campaigns of the African People’s Socialist Party, APSC organizes in the white communities. We call on white people to unite with our true human interest in recognizing that the struggle of African people for liberation and justice has a relationship to the fact that our lifestyle rests on a pedestal of African oppression.
